Class certificates
Historically, Insurance Agencies (P&I’s) and Cargo Handling Companies required and objective system in order to evaluate the condition of ships, leading to the system of classification , or the grouping of ships by type and age. With the introduction of flag state surveillance and certification toward the end of the last century, Classification Societies has been responsible for carrying out such matters, with valid class and associated surveys becoming the basis for the issuance of a Safety Construction Certificate.This close connection between of Flag State and Class Regulation, is stated as a binding in the 1996 amendment of SOLAS Reg. II-1/ 3-1. Under special partnership, Survey & Marine Audits has been authorized to carry out CLASS INSPECTION OF HULL & MACHINERY for Panama Shipping Registrar Inc.
